Sync Excel workbooks and CSV files stored in your Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint document libraries. Atlas connects via Microsoft Graph using delegated OAuth, so it accesses only the files you explicitly select.
Connect to Excel & SharePoint
- Click Add data in the Layers panel
- Go to the Connections tab
- Select Excel (SharePoint)
- Click Sign in with Microsoft and complete the OAuth authorization
- Use the in-app file picker to navigate to the file you want to import
File Browser
After authorizing, an in-app picker lets you browse three locations:
| Location | Contents |
|---|---|
| My OneDrive | Files and folders in your personal OneDrive |
| Shared with me | Excel and CSV files others have shared directly with you |
| SharePoint Sites | Document libraries across your organization's SharePoint sites |
Navigate into folders using the breadcrumb trail. Select one or more .xlsx or .csv files to import.
Import Flow
For Excel files, Atlas shows a worksheet preview so you can choose which sheet to import. The flow then mirrors other tabular connections:
- Geometry detection — Atlas detects coordinate or address columns and suggests a geometry mapping
- Merge configuration — choose a unique key column and a sync policy (add, update, or delete-missing rows)
- Click Add to Project
CSV files skip the worksheet step and go straight to geometry detection.
Syncing
Once connected, Atlas periodically syncs the file to pick up changes from OneDrive or SharePoint. You can also trigger a manual sync from the dataset's options menu.
Connections are tied to the Microsoft account that authorized them. If that account loses access to the file or site, syncs will fail — reconnect from the connection settings to re-authorize.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| SharePoint site not listed | Your Microsoft admin may need to grant admin consent for the Atlas app in Entra ID |
| File missing from picker | Confirm the file is accessible to your Microsoft account and is .xlsx or .csv |
| Sync failing after working | Re-authorize the connection from the dataset's connection settings |
