Alaska is located on the northwest extremity of the country's West Coast. To be more specific, it is located in the far north of the continent of North America. It is positioned just across the Bering Strait from Asia.

When looking at a map, you will notice that Alaska is the northernmost and westernmost part of the United States. It so happens to also be the easternmost state due to the Aleutian Islands extending into the Eastern Hemisphere.
It boasts a diverse terrain with mountains, forests and a myriad of isolated small towns. A large chunk of Alaska is dominated by vast wilderness and incredibly scenic natural areas. More than half of the state is covered by the Alaska Range, which includes the majestic Denali, North America's tallest peak.
Climate and Weather in Alaska
Alaska is renowned for its predominantly cold weather. It grapples with a subarctic climate, yet variations can be seen across different regions. Parts of the Southeast, for example, experience an oceanic climate. The interior of Alaska can see temperature extremes, with summers reaching 90 degrees Fahrenheit and winters plummeting below minus 60.
Population Distribution
Despite being the largest State by land area in the United States, Alaska is sparsely populated. Most Alaskans live in the city Anchorage. The rest of the population is spread thinly across a collection of smaller towns.
