data.europa.eu is the official open data portal of the European Union, run by the Publications Office. It harvests metadata from EU institutions and from the national open data portals of member states, making it the single largest discovery point for European public data.
For geospatial work it is invaluable as a cross-border index: a single search spans administrative boundaries, environment, transport, and statistics across Europe, then links to the authoritative national source. It complements the INSPIRE infrastructure that harmonizes spatial data across the EU.
