Atlas Weekly: W-33

This week brought powerful new spatial filtering capabilities and significant improvements to navigation, along with comprehensive fixes to map functionality and user interface consistency.

Features

Spatial Filtering with Mask Widgets

Atlas now includes advanced spatial filtering capabilities through interactive mask widgets. You can create circular filters or travel-time masks (isochrones) directly on the map to filter data based on geographic proximity or accessibility. The mask widget allows you to draw, move, and resize filter areas dynamically, with real-time updates to your filtered dataset. This powerful feature enables more sophisticated spatial analysis workflows, whether you're analyzing service areas, catchment zones, or proximity-based data relationships.

Enhanced Project and Dataset Navigation

The Projects and Datasets pages now feature redesigned breadcrumb navigation that's more subtle and handles long project titles better. We've also unified the navigation experience by adding the same topbar design to the Datasets page that was previously only available on the Projects page. Additionally, folder sections are now hidden when no folders exist (though the "New folder" button remains accessible), creating a cleaner interface when working with flat project structures.

Fixes and Improvements

Map Clustering and Filtering

  • Fixed critical issues with ID-based filtering for map clusters, ensuring both individual points and clusters containing filtered features are properly displayed
  • Resolved problems where clusters would disappear when searching for specific feature IDs
  • Fixed empty search results showing all features instead of an empty map
  • Improved map keyboard shortcuts to prevent conflicts when typing in text input fields

User Interface Consistency

  • Standardized modal layouts and styling across the application using consistent spacing and component structure
  • Fixed visual inconsistencies with dataset card checkboxes by removing unwanted background colors
  • Improved PVGIS solar energy analysis interface with better layouts and template creation workflow
  • Enhanced form management with better publish/delete action reliability and cleaner empty states

Comments and Interaction

  • Added support for list layout in comments with improved mobile styling
  • Enabled administrators and users with edit permissions to delete individual comment replies
  • Fixed comment reply textarea styling issues on mobile devices

Data Handling and Performance

  • Resolved application crashes caused by duplicate values in select dropdown components
  • Improved handling of grouped select options with better deduplication logic
  • Enhanced folder overflow handling for workspaces with many collections
  • Added skeleton loading states to the Datasets page for better user feedback

Infrastructure and Monitoring

  • Improved error tracking and monitoring configuration across client, server, and edge environments
  • Enhanced analytics tracking with better client-side initialization
  • Fixed various technical issues with request routing and proxy configurations
