Atlas Weekly: W-30

This week delivered powerful editing enhancements with snap-to-vertex functionality for precise map editing, streamlined data management workflows, and significant improvements to the download system architecture.

Features

Snap-to-Vertex Editing

Map editing now includes intelligent snap-to functionality that automatically aligns vertices to nearby geometries during direct editing. When dragging vertices in edit mode, they will snap to nearby features for precise alignment, activated with the Shift key. This enhancement significantly improves accuracy when modifying map features and reduces manual alignment effort, ensuring cleaner data quality.

Enhanced Comments Navigation

The comments widget received comprehensive navigation improvements including auto-scrolling to selected comments, fixed headers that remain visible during scrolling, and dynamic height control. When selecting a comment from the map, the comments panel automatically scrolls to highlight that specific comment, making it easier to navigate between map features and their associated discussions.

Streamlined Download System

Completely redesigned the file and folder download experience with a new centralized state management system. The updated download modal consolidates all download options into a single interface, supporting individual files (vector, raster, tabular) and entire folders with proper format selection prompts. Downloads now include unit context automatically, ensuring exported data maintains crucial measurement information.

Advanced Workspace Data Management

Workspace dataset integration now supports adding entire folder structures to projects, including nested datasets and subfolders. The system can handle batch movement of multiple workspace items and provides visual indicators for datasets that are already added to a project, preventing duplicate additions and improving data organization workflows.

Fixes and Improvements

  • Dataset ordering consistency - Fixed vector and raster dataset retrieval to maintain correct ordering across feature popups, copy menus, and data views with significant performance optimizations
  • Mention field interactions - Resolved issue where clicking on mention suggestions in popups would prematurely close the dropdown, now allowing proper interaction with mention fields
  • Comment positioning accuracy - Adjusted comment marker positioning on maps with a vertical offset correction to ensure precise placement
  • Dataset deletion control - Updated deletion workflow to require item IDs and stopped automatically removing associated map layers, giving users more control over their data
  • iOS stability improvements - Added comprehensive null checks to prevent crashes on iOS devices, particularly addressing WebGL context loss and memory management issues
  • Box selection behavior - Disabled box selection when in direct select mode or when editing features to prevent conflicts with new snapping functionality
  • CSV export enhancement - Data table exports now include unit information in CSV files for better data context and integrity
