Product Designer

Oslo, Norway / On-site / Full-time

Apply for this role

The world runs on location. Every renewable energy project, every new road, every store opening, every disaster response — all of it is a spatial decision. Yet the tools people use to make those decisions are stuck in another era: heavy desktop software, ugly interfaces, weeks-long workflows. We're building Atlas to change that — a cloud-native GIS that anyone can pick up and use to make better decisions about the physical world. Maps shouldn't be a specialist's tool. They should be everyone's.

We're looking for a Product Designer to own end-to-end product experiences across Atlas. You'll collaborate with founders, engineers, and customers to translate complex spatial problems into user-centered solutions, moving rapidly from exploration through launch. Design strategy, interaction design, prototyping, and visual polish all sit with you. The bar for execution is high — typography, spacing, motion, and interactions all matter.

What you'll do

  • Design end-to-end product experiences across data visualization, mapping, and spatial workflows
  • Translate strategic objectives into user-centered solutions, from flows to pixels
  • Move work rapidly from exploration through launch, balancing user needs with technical and business constraints
  • Participate in regular design critiques and raise the bar on craft across the team
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Atlas design system and product vision
  • Interview users, analyze feedback, and help shape the roadmap

Who you are

  • 3+ years of experience designing digital products in startup or fast-paced environments
  • A strong generalist with demonstrated ability to own complete design workflows
  • Excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills with the taste to own the full stack of design assets
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
  • A portfolio of shipped product work that demonstrates craft and judgment
  • Bonus: experience with data visualization, mapping, or GIS products; code-based prototyping (HTML/CSS, React); modern AI tools (v0, Cursor, Figma Make); B2B or technical product backgrounds

Note from the co-founder

Design is one of the most important levers we have at Atlas. GIS has historically been dense, ugly, and unapproachable — we're changing that, and design is what makes it possible. If you join us, you'll have unusual ownership and the autonomy to actually ship the work you believe in. We move fast, we don't ship half-baked work, and we expect you to push us as much as we push you.
