How to embed a map

Embedding a map in Atlas allows you to share interactive maps on websites, blogs, dashboards, or other web applications. This makes geographic data accessible and interactive without requiring users to open Atlas directly.

Atlas provides an embed link and an embed code, allowing you to integrate your map easily while controlling its settings.

Step 1: Open or Create a Map

  1. Log in to Atlas: Open your web browser and log in to Atlas.
  2. Open an Existing Map or Create a New One:
    • If you have already built something in the Builder, this will be the interface you are embedding.
    • If you haven't created anything in the Builder, the embedded view will reflect what you have created on the Data side.

Step 2: Make the Map Public and Open the Share Menu

  1. Click the Share Button:
    • Find the Share button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  2. Make the Map Public:
    • In the Share Settings, select Anyone with the link can view.
    • This is required to enable embedding.

Step 3: Copy the Embed Link or Embed Code

  1. Click on Embed Map:
    • In the Share menu, find the Embed Map option.
  2. Choose How to Embed the Map:

Practical Applications of Embedded Maps

  • Real Estate & Retail: Display store locations, available properties, or service areas.
  • News & Reports: Enhance articles with interactive geographic data.
  • City & Government Websites: Show zoning maps, traffic reports, or public service locations.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Embed real-time tracking of weather, pollution, or protected areas.

Tips for Embedding Atlas Maps

  • Make Sure the Map is Public: If your map is private, it won’t be possible to embed it.
  • Test the Embed Code: Preview how the map looks on different screen sizes.
  • Use Interactive Features: Keep pop-ups and Builder elements enabled to make your map more engaging.
