The Atlas interface is your workspace for creating and analyzing maps. When you log in, the first thing youโll see is the dashboard, where you can view existing projects or start a new one.
๐ ๏ธ Starting a New Project
To begin, click the New Project button to open the main Atlas interface. Here, youโll be prompted to add data, but you can also explore the map without adding data initially or start by creating your own.
๐ฅ Ways to Add Data:
- Upload Your Dataset: Import files such as CSV or GeoJSON.
- External Sources: Connect to sources like VMS or the Google Sheets integration.
- Shared Datasets: Use files shared within your workspace.
- Atlas Data Hub: Browse publicly available datasets and bring them into your project.
๐ Key Interface Features
๐ Left Side Panel: Layers
- Displays your mapโs layers, whether uploaded, shared, or created manually.
- Use the + button to add more layers or datasets.
๐๏ธ Toolbar
- Includes tools for interacting with the map:
- Select Mode: Interact with map features.
- Drawing Tools: Add points, lines, or polygons to create custom data.
- Annotations: Add notes or markers.
- Undo/Redo: Easily correct or repeat actions.
โ๏ธ Right Side Panel: Data Actions & Layers
- Data Actions: Access tools for spatial analysis, such as:
- Vector and Raster operations (e.g., merging or filtering data).
- Workflows for processing data efficiently.
- Layer Styling Panel: Customize how data appears on the map with colors, labels, and more (enabled once layers are added).
๐ Map Area
- The map is where your data comes to life. Tools here let you:
- Adjust views, find locations, and zoom.
- Change basemaps or measure distances.
- Export the map as a screenshot for sharing or reporting.
๐ Data Mode vs. Builder Mode
The interface has two main modes:
- Data Mode: The workspace for uploading, editing, and analyzing data.
- Builder Mode: The workspace for designing interactive maps or applications to share with others.
Always begin in Data Mode to prepare your datasets before moving to Builder Mode.
๐ Ready for the Next Step?
Now that youโve explored the Atlas interface, itโs time to learn how to add data to your project.
