Builder Mode

Builder Mode in Atlas

Builder Mode in Atlas lets you create interactive map applications without any coding. From data portals to analytics tools, Builder Mode transforms your maps into user-friendly applications for your audience.

In this lesson, we’ll introduce you to Builder Mode, show you how to get started with layouts, and explore customization options to make your map applications both functional and visually appealing.

🖥️ What Is Builder Mode?

The data side of Atlas focuses on formatting and analyzing spatial data.
The Builder Mode, on the other hand, is designed to let you create user-friendly map applications for others to use. Think of it as designing an interactive interface for your data.

🌟 Getting Started with Builder

  1. Enter Builder Mode

    • From the Atlas dashboard, switch to Builder Mode.
    • You’ll see options to start from pre-made layouts or a blank canvas:
      • Data Portal: Visualize your data and layers.
      • Discover: Create interfaces like booking pages.
      • Analytics: Build applications for analyzing locations (e.g., retail stores).
      • Blank: Start from scratch for complete control.
  2. Start with a Blank Layout

    • Add sections to your interface using the + buttons.
    • Choose the layout style: solid panel, floating with rounded corners, or a simple list view.

🎛️ Customizing the Builder Interface

  1. Interface Settings

    • Control the tools and features available to end-users, such as:
      • Location Search: Enable or disable search functionality.
      • Measure Tool: Turn on/off tools to measure distances.
      • Map Scale & Zoom: Essential tools to keep active.
    • Manage user interactions like full-screen mode or allowing downloads and comments.
  2. Branding Options

    • Customize branding via Workspace Settings to ensure your map aligns with your organization’s identity.
  3. Section Settings

    • Adjust the layout with options for:
      • Background Style: Solid or transparent with shadow and blur effects.
      • Alignment and Spacing: Control positioning of components within the section.

🛠️ Adding Components to Your Interface

Builder Mode offers various components to enhance your application:

  • Informational Components: Add layers, bookmarks, or comments to provide context.
  • Data Visualization: Include filters, feature lists, or data tables to display and explore your datasets.
  • Design Limitations: Some components, like data tables, can only be added to horizontal sections, while others, like feature lists, are limited to vertical sections.

Drag and drop components to build an interface that suits your project’s needs.

Builder Mode empowers you to design professional, interactive map applications quickly and easily. In the next lesson, we’ll build a full interface using Denmark apartment data. See you there!
