What is Absolute Coordinates?
Absolute coordinates reference a fixed point on the Earth. This fixed point is usually understood to be the intersection of the prime meridian (0° longitude) and the equator (0° latitude). From this baseline, locations are measured in degrees of longitude and latitude.
For instance, the city of Paris, France has an absolute coordinate of around 48.8566° N latitude, 2.3522° E longitude. This means that Paris is approximated to be 48.8566° North of the equator and 2.3522° East of the Prime Meridian.
