What is the Great Basin Desert?
The Great Basin Desert is the largest desert in the United States. Unlike most deserts, it is a cold desert, meaning it experiences freezing winters. It covers parts of Nevada, Utah, Oregon, and Idaho.

The Great Basin Desert spans about 490,000 square kilometers. It is located between the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the west and the Rocky Mountains to the east.
