Labels and Popups in Atlas
Labels and popups are essential tools for making your maps more interactive and informative.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to create labels that highlight key data points and design popups that display detailed information when users interact with your map.
🎨 Adding Labels
-
Choose a Visualization Type
Labels are available only in Standard Styling. Start by selecting this visualization type in the layer panel. -
Add Icons
- Select an icon from your workspace’s custom icons or Atlas’s built-in options.
- If icons overlap, enable Allow Overlap to display all points simultaneously.
- You can also remove the original points by disabling their fill and outline.
-
Customize Labels
- Add text to your labels by choosing a field from your dataset (e.g., property names).
- Adjust icon size to make labels more prominent or subtle.
Labels make your map more descriptive and visually appealing. Now let’s move on to popups!
💬 Creating Custom Popups
Popups display detailed information about a point when you click or hover over it. Here’s how to create them:
-
Basic Popups
- By default, clicking a point opens a popup showing all data fields from your dataset.
-
Customizing Popups
- Go to the Popups section under Styling and Labels.
- Choose whether the popup appears on-click or on-hover.
- Select a size (small, medium, or large) and start customizing the content.
-
Adding Elements
- Use the + button to add elements such as images, titles, text, or buttons.
- Example:
- Add an Image: Link it to the image column in your dataset.
- Add a Title: Display the property name or another key field.
- Add Text Boxes: Include details like monthly rent (formatted as currency) or apartment size (square meters).
- Add a Button: Create a clickable call-to-action linking to a URL (e.g., “See More Here”).
-
Styling Options
- Adjust font sizes, colors, and layouts to make your popup visually appealing.
- Use Atlas’s styling tools to match your map’s design.
