Manage Workspace

Configure workspace settings, manage team members, and customize your Atlas workspace

Workspaces organize your projects, team members, and data under a single account. Each workspace operates independently with its own settings, billing, and member permissions. You can belong to multiple workspaces and switch between them as needed.

Understanding Workspaces

A workspace represents your organization or team within Atlas. All projects you create belong to a workspace and can be shared with other workspace members. Each workspace maintains separate data libraries, billing accounts, and customization settings.

Multiple workspaces help you separate different organizations or client accounts. For example, you might have one workspace for your company and another for freelance projects. Each workspace operates independently while using the same Atlas account.

Accessing Workspace Settings

Click the Settings icon in the top navigation bar to open the workspace settings dialog. The dialog displays four tabs for managing different aspects of your workspace.

The Settings tab appears by default and controls core workspace configuration. Other tabs manage team members, branding customization, and billing details.

Workspace Name and Icon

The workspace name appears throughout Atlas to identify which workspace you are currently using. Choose a clear name that distinguishes this workspace from others you might belong to.

Click the workspace icon to upload a custom logo or image. The icon appears next to the workspace name in project listings and helps visually identify the workspace. Supported formats include PNG, JPG, and SVG files.

Unit Preferences

The Unit dropdown controls whether Atlas displays measurements in metric or imperial units. This setting applies to all measurement tools, map scales, and distance calculations within the workspace.

Select Metric to display measurements in meters, kilometers, and square meters. Choose Imperial for feet, miles, and square feet. All workspace members see measurements in the configured unit system.

Managing Team Members

The Team members tab shows everyone with access to the workspace. From here you can invite new members, adjust permissions, and remove users who no longer need access.

Click Invite member to send workspace invitations by email. New members receive an email with a link to join the workspace and access shared projects.

Each member has a role that determines their permissions within the workspace. Admins can modify workspace settings and manage members while standard members can only create and edit projects.

Remove members by clicking the menu icon next to their name and selecting Remove from workspace. Removed members lose access to all workspace projects immediately.

Customizing Branding

The Branding tab allows workspace admins to customize how Atlas appears for all members. Upload a custom logo, set brand colors, and configure the workspace appearance.

Brand customization appears in shared interfaces, exported maps, and public forms. This creates a consistent professional appearance when presenting work to clients or external stakeholders.

Changes to branding settings apply immediately to all workspace members and existing projects. Previously exported maps retain their original branding.

Managing Billing

The Billing tab controls workspace subscriptions and payment methods. Workspace admins can upgrade plans, manage payment details, and view billing history.

Workspace subscriptions apply to all members within that workspace. One subscription covers unlimited workspace members up to the plan limits.

View current usage and plan limits to understand how close you are to capacity. Upgrade your plan when approaching storage or project limits to avoid interruptions.

Switching Between Workspaces

Click the workspace name in the top navigation to open the workspace switcher. This displays all workspaces you belong to along with any pending invitations.

Select a different workspace to immediately switch to that workspace's projects and settings. Atlas remembers your last position in each workspace and returns you there when switching back.

Accept workspace invitations from the switcher by clicking Accept next to the invitation. This adds the workspace to your account and grants access to shared projects.

Workspace Organization Best Practices

Create separate workspaces for distinct organizations or client accounts. This ensures clear separation of projects, billing, and team access across different business relationships.

Use descriptive workspace names that identify the organization or purpose. Avoid generic names when managing multiple workspaces as they become difficult to distinguish.

Configure unit preferences based on where your team operates. Consistent units prevent confusion when collaborating on projects with multiple team members.

Set up workspace branding before sharing projects externally. This ensures a professional appearance in all client-facing materials and exported maps.

Review team members periodically and remove users who no longer need access. This maintains security and ensures workspace resources are only available to active team members.

Assign admin roles carefully as admins can modify critical workspace settings. Limit admin access to trusted team members who need to manage workspace configuration.
